Summer vacation in the Zillertal

A delightful vacation

Once the days are getting longer, the flowers start to bloom and the cows are being brought to higher pastures, many tourist attractions and hiking destinations end their hibernation phase. The wide range of things to do are what make the Zillertal unique - you can find activities for any taste and fitness level.

Hiking in the Naturpark Zillertal national park

The Zillertal offers amazing conditions for friends of classic sports like hiking and biking. Well-maintained and themed hiking paths can be discovered solo or with a guide – experienced guides will definitely help you experience the area like you never before. You have a range of choices when it comes to hiking trails, from shaded flat and easy paths to steep inclines in the sun.

Most cable cars also operate in summer, which makes it easy to “get high” in no time. Once you have reached a certain altitude, you can continue on foot and whether you just walk downhill from here or are planning on conquering one of the surrounding peaks, you will always have amazing views to all sides. Of course, if you prefer it the hard way, you can start your hike right outside the Hotel Tipotsch and follow one of the many trails.

You will find natural beauty everywhere, not just high up in the mountains. The Hochgebirgs-Naturpark Zillertaler Alpen national park covers 422 km² and is home to many rare animals and plants. It is quite common for hikers to spot shy animals or rare flowers when exploring the national park.

Cycling and mountainbiking

The Zillertal boasts more than 1,200 km of dedicated cycling and moutainbiking routes in a variety of terrains.

Families and leisure cyclists

On the 31 km Zillertalradweg you can either cycle from Stumm to Mayrhofen or in the other direction all the way to the convergence of Ziller and Inn; either way you will hardly feel the slight incline. Enjoy the ride through the idyllic towns of the Zillertal valley and take a well deserved rest at one of the many cafés or cool off at one of the valley's public pools.

Mountainbiking

Spectacular mountainbiking trails lead you across mountain streams, along forest trails, roots and rocks until you reach the tree-line high up in the mountains. 11 of the cable cars in the Zillertal valley operate throughout the summer, and they are happy to transport you and your bike all the way to the top. From here you can choose your route of choice and your preferred level of difficulty. Many of these trails are in close vicinity to the Hotel Tipotsch, including single trails and fast-pace downhill runs plus one of the longest pump tracks in Austria.

E-biking

Have you tested the environmentally friendly electric bikes yet? They will carry you further and will even take you uphill without you having to sweat too much.

No transport, no admin, no stress

Our partner for all things bike, Sport Stock in Kaltenbach, has the newest e-bikes, trekking bikes, children's bikes, mountainbikes and fullies on offer, all of which are always well-maintained. They drop off your preferred bike at the hotel so you can start your tour right outside the door. And what's better, they also pick it up again once you return.

Restaurant Tiatta - where cyclists meet

Recharge your batteries while enjoying a refreshing shandy, delicious pastries, home-made ice cream or hearty dishes from our kitchen that is open all day. The sunny terrace is the ideal place to unwind.

Cooling off in the heat of summer

Summer is the time to take a plunge and in the hotel’s vicinity you can cool off at the public pools of the Freibad Stumm or the Erlebnistherme Fügen – both of which offer facilities for old and young. While kids and teens enjoy the slides and play pools, their parents can enjoy a massage or sweat it all out in the sauna. Tennis, golf, soccer, horse riding, cycling, swimming or rock climbing – the choice is all yours.
